This is an interesting one indeed. My Free Safelist is so unique, that it’s just barely considered a safelist at all. It is very close to being a traffic exchange. Really, it manages to be in a category all it’s own. However, because I’m not too fond of the idea of actually putting this service in a category by itself, we’ll consider it a safelist.
What makes it so unique?
The fact that ads don’t really get sent to your email (unless they’re solo ads or you specifically click a button that says “email me this ad”). The ads are made visible for 24 hours after submission and then people “surf” through them in a similar manner to how a traffic exchange works. Each time they view an ad, they earn credits. Of course, these credits then earn impression and your ad is shown to others. By doing this, your email never gets flooded with ads and you can view them at your leisure.
Advantages:
- Credit based system guarantees that you get people viewing your ad.
- Earn credits and commissions for your referrals.
- No need to worry about the insane amounts of emails normally associated with safelists.
- Pro membership is CHEAP, and boy is it worth it.
Disadvantages:
Interestingly, My Free Safelist manages to get rid of one big disadvantage to safelists, the fact that your inbox will be flooded with emails. However, it retains others, and manages to cause more:
- Your ad can still get lost in the sea of other ads, people might still ignore it. Make sure to really work to grab their attention and hold onto it for dear life.
- Ads can only be viewed in a linear fashion. This insures that more ads get read, but also ensures that those who view your ad are completely untargeted viewers.
- None of this is traffic to your site! Just ad views. You had better sell them and sell them good, because they have no other incentive to visit your site through the links you provide other than what you’re offering.
- The system looks easy to cheat. However, we’re not about to break the TOS just to find out how easy.
All in all, I like the idea. It could possibly have been executed a bit better, but it’s not too bad for what it is. My Free Safelist is a decent service as far as I can see. They’re worth at least checking out.
